FAQ

No. The board, all four item types, both free views, import and export and the popup all work signed out. An account is needed for exactly two things: buying Pro, and cloud sync.

In your own browser. It only reaches a TabOasis server if you press Upload yourself, and only with Pro. Full inventory: What we store and why.

No. The only thing it puts on other websites is the Spotlight overlay, which is off by default and reads nothing from the page it sits on. No browsing-history permission is requested.

One caveat worth knowing: to draw the little icon on a bookmark card, TabOasis asks Google’s public favicon service for it, so Google sees the hostname of each bookmark you render. That happens for everyone and has no setting.

No. It is a button, in both directions, and nothing syncs on a timer or on sign-in. Cloud sync.

I signed in on my laptop and the board is empty. Where did it go?

Section titled “I signed in on my laptop and the board is empty. Where did it go?”

Nowhere — signing in does not download. Press Download under the gear → Cloud Sync, and read the confirmation first, because it replaces whatever that machine already had. More.

Three browsers running the extension at once. A fourth sign-in signs out the oldest rather than failing. The web dashboard does not use one of the three. Free vs Pro.

Server-side, only sync — every upload and download is checked against your licence. Everything else called Pro (themes, Calendar and Focus views, AI actions, the profile count) is enforced by the extension in your browser. That is a deliberate trade-off and it is written down rather than glossed over: Free vs Pro.

What happens to my board if I stop paying?

Section titled “What happens to my board if I stop paying?”

Nothing is deleted or hidden. Sync keeps working for three more days, then stops. Calendar and Focus fall back to Kanban, a non-Blue theme falls back to Blue, and extra profiles stay where they are — you just cannot make new ones. You can still export everything.

No, and it has no AI of its own. You bring an OpenAI or Gemini key and your provider bills you directly. Bringing your own key.

No. It goes from your browser to the provider that issued it and nowhere else. It is not in the sync payload, not in an export, and not in a bug report. Where the key lives.

Yes, for one action: Fix Grammar & Spelling in the note editor. The other nine editor actions, Custom Prompt and AI search need Pro. What each action does.

Yes — export them from Chrome as HTML and import that file. Bear in mind the folder structure is flattened and everything lands in one column. Importing Chrome bookmarks.

Three ways: Export JSON (a real backup, re-importable), Export to Markdown (readable, one-way), and a per-profile export. Export and import.

Chrome is what it is built and tested for. It also runs in Chromium-based browsers that install Chrome extensions — Edge, Brave and Opera.

No. A folder holds cards, belongs to one column, and never holds another folder. Folders.

No. Profiles separate your board — columns, cards, folders, tags — and nothing else. Theme, font, view, Pomodoro settings, Focus mode data and your AI key are one shared set. Profiles.

At chrome://extensions/shortcuts. That is the only TabOasis shortcut you can rebind; the rest are handled inside its own pages. Keyboard shortcuts.

You cannot — there is no password-reset flow in TabOasis today, in the extension or on the web, and no reset email exists. Your board is not affected; it lives in your browser. Mail the address on the licence panel in Settings. More.

Yes. Gear → Data ManagementShare anonymous usage statistics. It is on by default, and switching it off also discards anything queued. What we store and why.

The web dashboard’s Sync page lists the stored copy and lets you delete it. The boards on your devices are untouched. Neither listing nor deleting needs a licence, so a lapsed subscription cannot leave you holding data you can’t remove.

To remove the account as well — licence, payment history and all — use Delete account at the bottom of the dashboard’s Overview page. It asks for your password, and it does not cancel a Stripe subscription, so cancel under Billing first. What we store and why.

Something is broken. Where do I report it?

Section titled “Something is broken. Where do I report it?”

Gear → Data ManagementReport a bug. Your extension version, browser and language are attached automatically; nothing from your board is.
